You know, personally for me, organising Secret Santa events for two consecutive years can be lots of fun and it's difficult to get deviants to join the fun.

But moving outside of deviantART, I want to alert you is that there are such Secret Santa events that are nothing more than a scam. :|

Earlier this year, NY Daily News is reporting that USPS workers were charged with the scam to steal gifts, known as mail fraud and receipt of stolen mail: www.nydailynews.com/new-york/n…

These USPS workers as a result of this incident lost their jobs and are about ready to head to prison for a long time.

And now this, WSOC-TV channel 9, an ABC affiliate in Charlotte, North Carolina is reporting that there is a "Secret Sister" scam circulating on Facebook!

It's not only this type of "Secret Sister" will NOT get you anything, that type of hoax is illegal. According to the United States Postal Inspection Service, it is against the federal law, most specifically, Title 18 of the United States Code, Section 63 to "request money or other items of value and promise a substantial return to the participants".

Snopes a good article on this hoax: www.snopes.com/secret-sisters-…

Thoughts on this scam anyone? I should post this to the Complaints Forum later today. :D

So that's what my friend meant when he said "I hate the USPS" on Skype today.

I can't believe people would do this.
