For the first time in 20 years, the Kansas City Chiefs are back-to-back Super Bowl champions, marking the third time in five seasons that the Chiefs won the title.

The AFC champion #3 Chiefs did it after eliminating the NFC champion #1 San Francisco 49ers by a score of 25 to 22. The Chiefs came from behind after #15 QB Patrick Mahones passed to #12 WR Mecole Hardman to the right for a 3-yard touchdown with just 3 seconds remaining in overtime. The 49ers came just three seconds short of winning their first Super Bowl title in 29 years! Super Bowl LVIII lasted 1 hour, 14 minutes and 57 seconds, making it the 7th-longest NFL game ever!

The Chiefs finish their season with 15 wins and 6 losses. The 49ers with their upset elimination loss will finis their season with 14 wins and 6 losses.

With the Chiefs' win, they become the fifth team to win three Super Bowls in a 5-season span joining the Pittsburgh Steelers (4 wins from 1974-1979), Dallas Cowboys (4 wins from 1992-1995) and the New England Patriots, (6 wins total from 2001-2004 and 2014-2018).

#15 QB Patric Mahomes was named the Super Bowl LVIII Most Valuable Player! Through out the game, he completed 34 out of 46 attempts (73.9%), passing 333 yards (7.2 yards per attempt), 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. He also made 9 rushing attempts on 66 yards (7.3 yards per attempt) with 22 longest rushing yards. He also made 3 sacks with 9 yards lost and 2 fumbles.

This year's Super Bowl LVIII was held at Allegiant Stadium in Paradise, Nevada, the home of the Las Vegas Raiders. The attendance record at Super Bowl LVIII was 61,629.

Prior to the start of the game, R&B singer Andre Day performed "Lift Every Voice and Sing" with Shaheen Sanchez performing in American Sign Language. Rapper and singer Post Malone performed "America the Beautiful" with actress Anjel Pinero performing the song in ASL.

Country music singer, Reba McEntire performed the U.S. National Anthem with actor Dnaiel Durant performing the national anthem in ASL.

Apple Music was the naming right sponsor for the Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show. Usher performed as the headliner along with special guests Alicia Keys, Jermaine Dupri, H.E.R., will.i.am, Lil Jon and Ludacris. The halftime show was produced by Jesse Collins and Roc Nation.

With all of that said and done, the 104th NFL season has come to a close! The 105th NFL season will begin on Thursday, July 31, 2024 at 8 PM EDT with the 2024 Pro Football Hall of Fame Game - that's less than 171 days from now!

The Michigan Wolverines are kings of NCAA FBS Division I! The #1 Wolverines finished their job after defeating the Pac-12 champion, #2 Washington Huskies by a score of 34-14 to win their first national title since 1997. The #2 Huskies never lead the title game.

So, how did the Huskies and Wolverines advanced to the College Football Playoff National Championship?

On Monday, January 1, 2024 in the first semifinal, the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl Game presented by Prudential, the #1 Wolverines eliminated the #4 Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 27-20 in overtime. The #4 Crimson Tide finished their season at 12-2.

In the second semifinal, the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Allstate Sugar Bowl, the #2 Huskies eliminate the #3 Texas Longhorns by a score of 37-31. The #4 Longhorns finish their season with a 12-2 record.

The #1 Wolverines finish their season undefeated with a 15-0 record. The #2 Huskies will finish their season with their only loss at 14-1. With the Huskies loss, this snapped their 21-game winning streak under head coach, Kalen DeBoer.

This was the Huskies final season in the Pac-12 Conference as the conference will cease to exist. The Huskies will move to the Big Ten Conference next season. The last time the Washington Huskies loss a game was on October 8, 2022 against Arizona State Sun Devils.

Head coach Jim Harbaugh became the 2nd Michigan Wolverine alumni to win a title since 1948. The Wolverines become the second Big Ten Conference school to win a BCS/CFP title game since 2002 and 2014 when the Ohio State Buckeyes won it all. The Wolverines earned their second 15-game win streak in the AP Poll era (25 straight from 1946 to 1949).

The Michigan Wolverines won 8 national titles from 1901 to 1948. The Wolverines would not win another claimed title until 1997. Overall, the Wolverines have won 7 unclaimed titles and 12 claimed titles in their school history.

In Jim Harbuagh's final season as head coach of the Wolverines, he won his first and only national title in the 13th season as FBS head coach.

#2 RB Blake Corum (seniour) was named the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Offensive MVP! He was credited to scoring 21 rushing yards with 134 yards (6.6 average) and 2 touchdowns.

#2 CB Will Johnson (sophomore) was named the 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship Defensive MVP! He made 4 tackles and 1 interception.

The 2024 College Football Playoff National Championship was played at the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas. 72,808 people attended the game. The National Anthem was performed by Fantasia. This was the tenth and final College Football Playoff National Championship under the four-team format system. Next season, the bracket will expand to 12 teams.

With the exception of the all-star college football bowl games (Caribo Royale Orlando Hula Bowl, Trillion Tropical Bowl, East-West Shrine Bowl, Reece's Senior Bowl and HBCU Legacy Bowl) starting this weekend and concluding by the end of February, college football has headed into a long off-season. The 2024 NCAA Division I FBS football season will begin on Saturday, August 24, 2024. That's 229 days from now!
