First submission of 2012 here. Here's a close up photo of the GRiD 2270 laptop with reversed grayscale wallpaper of Luka and Miku, lead Vocaloid characters. During the Christmas break, the hard drive was upgraded from 130 MB to 1.35 GB (about ten times the storage capacity of the original). The hard drive was taken out of the Toshiba Tecra 720CDT laptop which I will upload shortly.
In order for the GRiD 2270 to recognise the Toshiba MK2720FC hard drive at full capacity, I had to use a utility called EZ-Drive 9.04W to partition the drive and format it before reinstalling MS-DOS 6.22 as well as Windows 3.1 with Pen Extensions. Otherwise, running FDISK to partition the hard drive results in the hard drive reporting a capacity of just 152 MB instead of 1,296 MB, because the BIOS on the GRiD 2270 does not support hard disks larger than 504 MB.
This photo was taken over a week ago and the middle cursor that was stuck is the reason why the AG5 button batteries on the tablet pen died recently. I recently ordered 6 Star Struck 393 button batteries that should be good enough for a while.
Plus, the tablet computer now has a Radio Shack serial port mouse that can be used as a alternate for a tablet pen. If I want to use the serial port mouse, I would have to disconnect the parallel port floppy drive.
I'm gonna have to leave the GRiD 2270 connected at all times, because the NiCAD batteries in the battery pack is not holding a charge anymore. Sooner or later, I'm gonna have to find a way to get the dead NiCAD and the CMOS battery soldered to the motherboard replaced soon.
